VNA Clay Shooting 2018

The 6th Annual VNA Charity Sporting Clay Shoot

The Visiting Nurse Association of Florida’s charitable organization, the Visiting Nurse Foundation, recently held its 6th Annual Charity Sporting Clay Shoot at Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee, Florida.

The event commenced with a social hour and BBQ dinner on Friday, October 19th, followed by a 26-team sporting clay shoot on Saturday morning. The shoot, which consisted of 14 stations and a flurry, was sponsored by several distinguished organizations, including Martin Health Foundation, Dunn Capital Management, and Ross, Earle, Bonan & Ensor, P.A.

After the clay shoot, everyone enjoyed a steak luncheon, a 50/50 and prize raffle, and an awards ceremony where trophies were presented to the top three teams, as well as the top three individual shooters. Placing first in the team division was Martin Health Foundation, with Cushman & Wakefield placing second, and Seacoast Bank placing third. Winners of the individual trophies were Dr. Steve Parr in first place, Dr. Don Wood in second place, and Richard Rhatigan in third place. All individual winners were on a team sponsored by Martin Health Foundation.

Over $62,000 was raised by the generous community members and businesses involved in this year’s clay shoot. All proceeds from the event directly benefit the Visiting Nurse Foundation and its community healthcare efforts, such as the Florence Nightingale Express Mobile Medical Clinic, which provides primary health care services, disease prevention, health promotion, and healthcare education to Florida residents in need. The Visiting Nurse Foundation also provides back-to-school physicals, scholarships for college-bound nursing students, medically necessary home alterations for the disabled, and much more.

Since its inception in 1987, the Visiting Nurse Foundation has been funded solely by donations from fundraising events like the Annual Charity Sporting Clay Shoot and the Annual Charity Golf Tournament and Silent Auction, as well as present and former patients, employees, and members of the community.
