Healthy Hearts to Meet for First Time

STUART, Florida- (Thursday December 2, 2010) The Visiting Nurse Association of Florida in collaboration with Wellington Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the first meeting of Healthy Hearts Cardiovascular Support Group.   The first meeting will include a presentation by Dr. Vincent Apicella titled “The ABC’s of Heart Health” on December 8th at Binks Forest Golf Club, Wellington from 11:30 am -1:30 pm.   This event is free, open to the public and will include a heart-healthy lunch and beverages. Parties interested in attending should RSVP by calling 561.798.9880.   Healthy Hearts will continue to meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 11:30 am. VNA Offers State Mandated Screening

STUART, Florida- (Thursday December 2, 2010) The Visiting Nurse Association of Florida is now offering state mandated Level 2 LiveScan screenings to healthcare providers on the Treasure Coast. The screening process is offered at a rate of $55 to those with state approved photo ID from 8am-4pm Mon.-Fri. The VNA is located at 2400 SE Monterey Rd., Stuart.   State law mandates that most healthcare providers hired after August 1st complete the screening process. The LiveScan is good for up to five years and takes only 20 minutes to complete. VNA Brings on New Administrator Greg WheelerSTUART, Florida- (Wednesday, December 1, 2010) The VNA of Florida is proud to welcome Greg Wheeler to its family of administrators across the state. Greg comes to the VNA with over 20 years of experience in Finance and has been on the VNA Board of Directors for over a decade. “It’s very exciting to be a part of the day to day operations that as a board member, I haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing”, said Wheeler. “I think this is a great opportunity to learn what happens on the ground level of such a great agency”. Jensen Beach PanthersVNA OF FLORIDA SPONSORS LOCAL SOCCER TEAM STUART, Florida- (Monday November 1, 2010) The Visiting Nurse Association of Florida is proud to have sponsored the Jensen Beach “Panthers” – U12 boys’ team. The team participated in the 15th Annual Brevard Fall Challenge in Palm Bay. Going undefeated in their age group and division, they played against teams from Indialantic, Jacksonville and Melbourne.  Additionally, they played in the final championship game, securing the win against Key West, score 5-2.

VNA of Florida Goes Pink

  Stuart, FL., (Tuesday, October 5, 2010) October marks the 25th year since the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month was declared in 1985. The VNA of Florida is celebrating this anniversary in a special way – by providing all nursing staff with pink exam gloves during the month of October.   “These pink gloves that our caregivers are wearing are a visible reminder that early detection and prevention is key,” explained Kathy Frost, Director of Professional Services. “Mammography screening remains the single-most effective method of detecting breast cancer in an early, treatable stage. If all women received regular screenings and mammograms after turning 40, the death rate would fall by another 20 to 30 percent.”   Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women and takes the lives of approximately 40,000 women annually. VNA Florida Opens in Palm Beach Gardens

STUART, Florida- (Monday, October 11, 2010) The Visiting Nurse Association of Florida has opened a new office at 4105 Burns Rd, Palm Beach Gardens.   “We have an excellent team of nurses, therapists and home health aids who have been delivering the highest level of care in our clients homes.
